Arcadia Chamber of Commerce Honors Methodist Hospital As Business of the Year
ARCADIA, Calif. -- The Arcadia Chamber of Commerce honored USC Arcadia Hospital of Southern California as the Business of the Year during its Board of Directors Installation and Awards Event on Jan. 14.
“USC Arcadia Hospital is an essential part of the well-being of the City of Arcadia, and we recognize their dedication to our community especially during the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Karen MacNair, CEO, Arcadia Chamber of Commerce.
In addition to the chamber award, the hospital received recognition from State Senator Susan Rubio, Assembly member Ed Chau, LA County Supervisor Kathryn Barger, and the City of Arcadia. All of these entities recognized our hospital for our outstanding efforts in serving the community by providing high-quality healthcare services to patients throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.
USC Arcadia Hospital has endured its most challenging year since moving to Arcadia from downtown Los Angeles in 1957. Since the pandemic began in early 2020, USC Arcadia Hospital has cared for more than 2,100 COVID-19 inpatients and provided COVID-19 tests to more than 13,000 people. The pandemic’s surge in recent months has led to doctors, nurses and staff caring for more than 100 patients daily at the hospital who are in COVID-19 isolation.
“We sincerely thank the Arcadia Chamber of Commerce for being selected as the Business of the Year. We are greatly humbled by this recognition,” said Cliff Daniels, Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer with USC Arcadia Hospital. “We’re very proud to be a source for high-quality healthcare services for the Arcadia community and the San Gabriel Valley, and we very much appreciate the support of the community through this COVID-19 pandemic.”
Daniels noted that the hospital has been greatly supported by businesses and individuals from throughout the region.
“We have been the beneficiaries of incredible generosity and support from both businesses and local community leaders who have donated needed PPE supplies and meals for our staff who continue to work so very hard to provide the care needed by members of our community,” Daniels said.
While COVID-19 vaccine distribution has begun and will eventually help stem the spread of the virus, there are still hurdles to overcome.
“These are indeed challenging times. We need the community’s help to slow the transmission of COVID-19. Please wear a mask, avoid large gatherings, and we can beat this virus,” Daniels said. “We intend to remain a resource for everyone as you require care whether it is related to COVID-19 or for heart attack or stroke or other health services, USC Arcadia Hospital is here to help you by providing that care.”
