Methodist Hospital Demonstrates Commitment to Keeping Patients and Employees Safe with Significant Investment in Safety Technology
Organization begins immediate deployment of innovative SwipeSense Technology for Contact Tracing and Hand Hygiene Monitoring
It is definitely “Safe to Seek Care” at USC Arcadia Hospital of Southern California, even in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
USC Arcadia Hospital has made a significant investment in innovative safety technology as part of its on-going commitment to deliver high quality, safe healthcare to the community. The hospital’s strategic partnership with SwipeSense, a Chicago-based technology company includes Automated Contact Tracing, Electronic Hand Hygiene Monitoring, Medical Equipment Tracking, and Nursing workflow modules. This demonstrates USC Arcadia Hospital’s proactive approach to ensure the safety of patients and hospital staff during the COVID-19 crisis and into the future. The new safety technology is currently being installed at the hospital and will be operational in the coming weeks.
“COVID-19 has changed the dynamics of hospital safety forever, so we needed to identify additional ways to keep patients and our staff safe. We believe that our significant investment in SwipeSense safety technology is the most effective way to achieve meaningful, quantifiable, improvement in our ability to ensure the wellbeing of both our staff and patients,” said Cliff Daniels, Chief Strategy Officer, USC Arcadia Hospital.
Like many areas of the country, Los Angeles County is experiencing daily increases in COVID-19 cases. This trend poses serious challenges to hospitals in their efforts to preserve a safe, trusted environment. By partnering with SwipeSense, USC Arcadia Hospital is the first hospital in California to implement badge-based monitoring technology to conduct automated contact tracing that will reduce the risk of harm for patients and staff.
By capturing real-time, employee badge data on the SwipeSense platform, Contact Tracing will automatically track employee-patient, and employee-employee contacts. SwipeSense generates comprehensive exposure reports for at-risk staff, patients, and medical equipment that allows for accelerated response time at the click of a button.
USC Arcadia Hospital also views this technology as a critical component to mitigate persistent consumer fear during the pandemic, assuring patients that “It’s Safe to Seek Care.”
“It’s important for patients to be aware of the dangers in delaying emergency care. We have seen a profound decrease in the number of patients seeking medical attention for severe conditions like strokes and heart attacks,” said Bala Chandrasekhar, MD, Chief Medical Officer, USC Arcadia Hospital. “We are implementing enhanced safety measures so that our community members need not think about delaying care.”
Mert Iseri, CEO of SwipeSense, added, “The COVID-19 pandemic has caused us to reflect on what is most important. Safety has risen to the top of the list for many of us. We’re proud to support Methodist Hospital in their incredible efforts to maximize safety for staff and patients, with an overall goal of improving safety infrastructure during the COVID-19 pandemic, and in the long-term as an industry-leading healthcare organization.”
USC Arcadia Hospital is committed to minimizing the risks of COVID-19, while ensuring the delivery of personalized, high quality care. In addition to the implementation of SwipeSense technology, patients will see physicians and staff at USC Arcadia Hospital adhering to its “4 W’s of Safety:”
- Wash your hands
- Wear a mask
- Watch your distance
- Who did you contact?
For all consumers and physicians, USC Arcadia Hospital recognizes that safety is a critical component of choice in healthcare. Knowing that their local hospital is leading the nation in safety should make their choice easier.
