Collaborative Alliance for Nursing Outcomes (CALNOC) Recognized Methodist Hospital as the Only Facility in San Gabriel Valley to Receive Four Excellence Awards
Arcadia, Calif. (January 15, 2018) - The prestigious Collaborative Alliance for Nursing Outcomes (CALNOC) recently recognized USC Arcadia Hospital of Southern California as one of only five hospitals statewide and the only hospital in the San Gabriel Valley with CALNOC’s “Performance Excellence Award” in four patient care categories.
CALNOC recognized USC Arcadia Hospital for:
- Best Performance in Preventing Hospital Acquired Pressure Ulcers
- Best Performance in Preventing Hospital Acquired Infections—CLABSI total Facility
- Best Performance in Preventing Hospital Acquired Infections—CAUTI total Facility
- Best Performance in Preventing Hospital Acquired Infections—C. difficile total Facility
“We are so proud of our entire nursing team, the infection prevention practitioners, and hospital staff for this recognition,” said Bobbie McCaffrey, Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer of USC Arcadia Hospital. “By using data to guide decision making and performance improvement, the efforts of our patient care staff have resulted in these outstanding results.”
CALNOC, the nation’s first nurse quality indicators database, recognizes distinguished hospitals for excellent performance in the reduction of hospital acquired pressure ulcers, injuries from falls and infections. CALNOC is the nation’s only Nurse Sensitive Registry developed and managed by Nursing. CALNOC has aggregated close to 20 years of data, representing more than 2,000 patient units, more than 94 million patient days. CALNOC reports that hundreds of hospitals use the patient outcome data to help advance patient care services and benchmark performance which can lead to greater safety and better outcomes for patients.
“Our goal always is to deliver high quality, safe care to our patients,” said Ms. McCaffrey. “One of the ways we do this is by analyzing a variety of data to gain an understanding on how we can develop a permanent, well-resourced plan to follow best practice care standards each and every day. We are so pleased to be recognized by CALNOC for these efforts.”
Besides USC Arcadia Hospital in Arcadia, only four other hospitals in California with an average daily census of 200 patients were honored with 4 awards:
- Adventist Health Medical Center in Bakersfield
- Adventist Health White Memorial in Los Angeles
- Kaiser Permanente in Fontana
- Providence Little Company of Mary in Torrance
