Singer and Composer Paul Anka
Arcadia, California – (October 16, 2017) – The USC Arcadia Hospital Foundation will host the 28th Annual Crystal Ball celebration featuring “An Evening with Legendary Singer and Songwriter Paul Anka” at the Pasadena Convention Center on Saturday, October 28 at 5:30 p.m. Proceeds from the event will support Women’s Health Services at USC Arcadia Hospital.
With its popularity increasing each year, Crystal Ball has evolved into an annual fundraising gala and has become “the” social event of the year in the San Gabriel Valley. Throughout its history it has generated more than $7.5 million to support such programs as the Rehabilitation Unit, Cardiac, Stroke, Emergency Services, and the Next Generation of Care Campus Transformation at USC Arcadia Hospital.
This year’s festivities will honor Ron and Nan Okum for their commitment and dedication to USC Arcadia Hospital and our community. With the experienced leadership of event co-chairs Christine Antonovich and Mickey Segal, this promises to be a successful fundraiser and friend-raiser for USC Arcadia Hospital.
The dynamic duo of Mickey and Christine are co-chairing together for the second time. Overall, for Christine it’s her fourth time as co-chair, and for Mickey, it’s his fifth time. Mickey said he would co-chair the event once again as long as Christine agreed to be his partner alongside him.
“Crystal Ball is such an elite event, so I was deeply honored that Mickey asked me to co-chair with him once again,” says Christine, who along with her husband former L.A. County Supervisor Mike Antonovich, were the honorees at Crystal Ball in 2014. “The event is so very important to the success of the hospital and the community. Raising funds for women’s health care is such a significant cause that will help create a healthier, more vibrant community.”
“Co-Chairing with Christine is incredible,” says Mickey, who serves as the Managing Partner of NKSFB and oversees the day-to-day operations of one of the largest and most well-known business management firms in the nation. “She gives her all in our fundraising effort; and her contacts and friends step up and support the Crystal Ball all the time. She is a true leader in the fundraising effort for USC Arcadia Hospital.”
Christine is a symbol of success as well, as a model and actress who balances her work and personal life. Raised in Dalian, China, she has appeared on stage and in films, captivating audiences while performing in numerous popular television series and earning the Chinese equivalent of an Academy Award. In addition, she is a dedicated supporter of USC Arcadia Hospital, serving for many years in leadership roles to ensure the success of Crystal Ball.
In addition, Mickey is also pleased that this year’s event will honor long-time hospital supporters Ron and Nan Okum.
“I’ve known Ron and Nan for 15 years and they’re very special people who are dedicated to USC Arcadia Hospital,” says Mickey. “Ron has been an amazing asset for us. He is a creative thinker, leader, and supporter, and he has actively brought donors to the table to support to the Foundation when, often times, we were previously unable to gain their support.”
The Okums are sincerely appreciative to be honored at Crystal Ball.
“Nan and I are humbled to be recognized by the Crystal Ball organizing committee as this year’s honorees,” says Ron. “When Mickey and I were co-chairs of the event a few years ago, we set a record by raising $685,000 for the hospital. So our goal this year is to top this number.”
Mickey shares Ron’s enthusiasm for the event.
“USC Arcadia Hospital would not be the same without this event,” says Mickey. “I encourage all of Arcadia, all of our personal friends, and all of the surrounding communities to attend in order to ensure Methodist Hospital continues to be one of the best hospitals in the region.”
